Glassblowing as a fine art form experienced a renaissance in the closing decades of the 20th century, and Seattle was an epicenter of that movement.
Dale Chihuly was one of the modern-day pioneers in the field (see below), and the Pilchuck School of Glass he co-founded in 1971 continues to be a major influence today. There are numerous working glass schools, artists, organizations, and galleries throughout the Puget Sound. Local museums frequently feature works by glass artists (image at right from SAM's Transformed By Fire 2005 exhibit). Below are links to Seattle glass resources.

CHIHULY
Dale Chihuly is Seattle's glass artist icon. In 1971, he co-founded Pilchuck Glass School in Washington. Over the years, with Pilchuck becoming an international glass center, Chihuly has led the avant-garde in the development of glass as a fine art.

Foster White Gallery has been in Seattle for 31 years. They have two locations (Rainer Square and Pioneer Square), and feature some of the areas top glass artists and their work.

It's a tad outside Seattle (ok, 45 miles), but the Museum of Glass is a must-include in this section. 13,000+ square feet of exhibition space, it's worth the drive.
